Thorton Maldonado (Thor to most) is the featured author of Blood and Fire Publishing. He also helms our Ye Ole Poetry Try Blog and book series. Originally intending on becoming a police officer/ criminal profiler, Thor had a chance encounter with education. He became a teacher and traveled the world. He has had forays in private equity and real estate along the way.
But his love for the creative process (i.e. "the blood and fire") always brings him back to the written word. His passion for all storytelling and helping others become the best versions of themselves are the reasons he dedicates himself to educating and enlightening others with his fiction and nonfiction works.
After a near-death experience and the loss of dear friend, Thor has rededicated himself to writing his heart out.
He has currently authored the novel, And Love Dreamt Its Death, which is a dark fantasy/ gothic horror retelling of the myth of Orpheus. He has also put out a prose-in-verse novella, Nevermore: A Midnight Dreary, which is a supernatural horror story based on Edgar Allan Poe's writing of the legendary poem "The Raven." Several of his poetry collections have been published as well, including Songs of Love and Death, Key to the Abyss and The Quoth: Poetry Inspired by Poe's The Raven. He even wrote a prose-in-verse holiday tale about the Ghost of Christmas Future called Through an Ornament Darkly.
Such Obols for Charon is his forthcoming poetry verse novel, now available in both Ebook and paperback editions.
